Asharqia Chamber organizes a lecture that reviews ways to prevent financial fraud

Asharqia Chamber, represented by the Finance Committee, organized a lecture that reviewed ways to prevent financial fraud, during which a member of the training and education team at the Anti-Financial Fraud Association, Dr. Maysa Basudan, discussed ways to combat and prevent fraud and ways to report it.

During the meeting, which was moderated by the head of the committee, Zaid Al-Aleish, Basudan learned that fraud is the illegal appropriation of another person's property through deception, noting that it includes four basic elements: presenting false essential data or refraining from presenting facts, and if the suspect is aware. That this statement is false or that omission, and the suspect's intention to urge the victim to rely on this false statement or omission of the facts and the victim's reliance on this false statement or omission of the facts and his exposure to injury or damage as a result of doing so.

Regarding job fraud, she said that in the Certified Fraud Examiners Organization, job fraud can be defined as when an individual uses his job to achieve personal enrichment through the intentional misuse or misapplication of the resources or assets of the organization used.

Regarding the factors influencing the commission of fraud, she explained that the pressure or motive that comes within the fraud triangle is a non-shareable need or problem that precedes the criminal offense of betrayal of financial trust, pointing out that fraud has multiple types of financial, occupational and professional fraud and consumer fraud, in addition to Electronic fraud and social engineering.

To prevent fraud, Basudan clarified that double or multiple authentications should be used on passwords, destroying the POS receipt, not sharing the verification code, reporting lost bank cards, and not disclosing financial and personal information.
